As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to join our team. This role is key to maintaining our strong health, safety, and environmental standards and ensuring full compliance with Irish legislation and client requirements.

The Role

The Safety Officer will oversee safety performance across multiple sites, supporting operational teams and promoting a positive safety culture. The successful candidate will have proven experience in preparing and managing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), along with a solid understanding of Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and maintain site-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring accuracy and relevance to ongoing activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks to ensure compliance with company procedures and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Lead or assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
  • Maintain and update all safety records, documentation, and safety files.
  • Support the development and implementation of safety policies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a proactive and positive health, safety, and environmental culture across all levels of the business.

Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or Diploma-level qualification).
  • Demonstrable experience preparing and managing RAMS and safety documentation.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a similar safety role within construction, plant hire, or environmental services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practice.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site teams.
  • Full, clean Irish driving licence (essential).
